My Logo...Bonus points!

With the extra time to work on our personal icons, I decided to make another one. I wanted to make an icon for my computer applications. I love peacocks they are such an amazing animal and I feel it is alway an inspiration to me, so I wanted to create an icon for my computer that was “Mac-icon inspired,” but had my flare to it, and this is what I came up with. To convert my Illustrator document into my Finder Icon on my Mac. I had to download an application call candycon. After that I scaled my personal logo(my peacock) as large as I could, I save my composition as a PDF document and then I replaced my regular Finder Icon with my own personal Icon perfect for a little bit of me added to my computer’s desktop. I also though that many other Mac owner’s could use this icon on there computer and even save it as an icon on their iphone. Other uses besides my own personal use this peacock icon could be used my webpage designers as their small thumbnail icon that pops up my the address bar on their website’s homepage(ie. the google “G”). As well as the icon that shows up as a quicklink that is added to the toolbars of webpage’s and homepages. Which in my perfect world I could have my icon iphone application...maybe that had easy styling tips for women, like an easy access webpage that give women weekly tips for must-haves in your closets, easy packing tips for cordinating outfits for a vaction with just a few pieces, new style trends that actually flatter “Real” women’s bodies and trends that women of all ages could wear and a quick guide to why, how, and to where.....(this would be a realistic use for me to use this personal logo/icon....maybe this icon will inspire me to start this “dream” project! )

Using Photoshop and Illustrator with Skill

My Quick Tips and Tricks to Remember:

Using Photoshop and Illustrator together in your composition, can be a great skill, that can take your compositions to the next level. However, there are a few tricks you must master first. One thing that I always helps me to know where to use the correct program for the correct purpose. I always use photoshop for basically photos, images, filters, cropping. Basically anything time I am needing to manipulate an image or object. For Illustrator I personally find it easier to work with objects lines, freehand drawing and the pen tools. An easy tip to always remember is to always start out by creating the same size documents for both Photoshop and Illustrator artboards. Probably the biggest issue with using both programs is moving your object, image, or text artworks as vector or as a raster image. Easy trick to remember is that when copy and pasting or drag and dropping images from Illustrator to photoshop always gets rasterized. To move a vector artwork via formatting your file from Illustrator to Photoshop, just by exporting Photoshop PSD files. When transferring artworks from Illustrator to Photoshop use the “save as,” so not to override your Illustrator file, because this rasterizes hidden layers. Something to always remember is that you cannot drag and drop paths from Photoshop to Illustrator, but vic-versa it will work. Any changes that you make to your artwork in Illustrator will not effect your Photoshop file. And cool thing I learn today is that you can drag just a layer or selection from Photoshop to Illustrator...and you can apply filters to these layers or selections.

I've always really liked these icon/Logo for FireFox Internet. And with having worked with photoshop and illustrator, I can see how this logo could be created....pretty cool!

I really like this logo. I only wish it was a little simpler, then I think it would be all around a good logo.

Weekly Blogger Assignment

This is an assignment that I thought would be relative this week. With the the knowledge of photoshop and in the process of learning Illustrator. This is a project that I have worked on in my free time. The brick background was a photo that my boyfriend took in Scotland, that I added 3 filters to in photoshop. Along with a photo of a peacock feather that I took at the zoo, I used the magnetic lasso amount the eye of the feather and then used the history brush along with just copy and paste the eye to create a peacock tail. In the background I used a piece of artwork that I had done in the past and group and filtered these objects in Ai with the opacity and filter options I’ve learned in Ai in past art classes. The text( along ith the background text and additional filters and opacities). That I had created in Ai and the brush tools to create the water color brush strokes. After I combined all of these objects I took this project back into Ps to add additional filters and opacities because I was more comfortable with these tools. But I learned that these tools can be used in Ai to achieve the same effects with out having to convert this project to and from Ai and Ps that I this has degraded the quality of color and detail. And if I were to print this project, I feel (with what I have learned from Ps) would degraded the entire project.
