Still have to paste it onto a black border...and maybe add a red ribbon....we will see

Printing...

So I've learned a lot about printing and also I knew more than I realized. When I went to help print out the new menu I designed. We had a problem with fonts, and the printer not lining up with the weird dimensions of our menu. Luckily I was able to know what I was doing...I even taught the man at Printer counter a few tricks! I felt very experienced! lol But one thing I had trouble with, but luckily I worked around, was being able to package or do a similar type function in AI. Because when I imported and even place my menu as a whole into indesign it did not save in a high quality form. it became very pixilated...does anyone know another trick??!!

the GOOD & the BAD

Assignment 16A
These ads are an example of Image or Lifestyle Advertisements. The goals of these ads are to inform and persuade its readers to purchase Elle Magazine. Since these are both covers of Elle’s recent editions, they are trying to persuade their reader’s interest by the two different, and attention grabbing covers, and Elle’s readers can spot there magazine at a glance because of its “in your face” large close-up covers.
In the Good cover all the elements work together to achieve the issue’s message. The large “ELLE” trademark fonts are sometimes hard to work with and the Brittany issue works well, especially with the dynamic photo of her and her two sons, there is a lot going on, along with taglines and slogans. The elements communicate to its audience emotionally, without overwhelming the reader. The product shot is perfect. This photographer and stylist of the photo shot did a perfect job of keeping the color palette simple and neutral. This edition’s cover has so much going on, yet it is very visually appealing and But on the Bad cover, featuring The Women in Hollywood, I feel the photographer did not keep in mind the product shot or photo’s purpose. The blurred green branch hanging centered on the actress’s head and in the middle of the line create tension and confusion. This photo could’ve been a great choice, but for a completely different type of advertisement. I also feel the product shot was not illustrated pleasingly with the headline. But the taglines I think are in a good layout.
The format or graphic impact of the Brittany cover has a proper and visual balance and symmetry, the product shot incorporating the photo’s color palette along with the taglines are not to unified, but have enough variation it keeps the cover from looking chaotic. The color palette and the placement of the taglines around the Brittany and her two sons create a sense of rhythm and personality of the photo (especially the two little wiggly boys), along with the issue’s theme and appeal. The Bad Hollywood cover I think is trying to use asymmetry with the single tagline in the bottom corner. Maybe even the blurred branch is suppose to create the asymmetrical layout but didn’t achieve it. I don’t see any Unity or rhythm or even a visual hierarchy since the compositions layout and photo is so distracting and confusing.

Online Portfolio

This is the header or banner that I created for my web page... I intend on perfecting it more, but for now this is all the time I had to devote produced.

I'd really appreciate feedback on it....
I'd love honest opinions!

Not just homework....

This class has been really fun, I've like all the assignments so far....except for the alien ones....and some of the writing assignments. But what I really like is that I have started an online portfolio....and all the assignments and projects I've created in this class had really helped me create a variety of compositions that have helped me extend my portfolio range of skills and the diversity of the ways I personally have been able to use Adobe. Now I'm having a problem of sorting through all my projects and narrowing them down...because I have so many options. Which has been such an unexpected blessing! lol

Even blogger has been a helpful assignment! For my internship I have to keep a journal of my daily tasks, learned skills and so forth. And this assignment has forced me to learn how to use blogger and now I have on already created that I can use for my internship journal.

I do have one critique or.... more a suggestion. For every project that I have to post I have to convert it to a JPEG or GIF (not PDF for some reason these won't load), but this task of converting each one has been time consuming and a PAIN. So my suggestion is to require (like for the mini projects) for us to do it to each finished assignment (minus the aliens). This would make the process faster and might encourage us to create our portfolios throughout the year which I think for at least the APST students would be a huge help and extremely useful! Just a thought....

Also if anyone has an quick tips to convert each to a JPEG etc please let me know.... as of now I am just going under file>convert to web devices

My Logo...Bonus points!

With the extra time to work on our personal icons, I decided to make another one. I wanted to make an icon for my computer applications. I love peacocks they are such an amazing animal and I feel it is alway an inspiration to me, so I wanted to create an icon for my computer that was “Mac-icon inspired,” but had my flare to it, and this is what I came up with. To convert my Illustrator document into my Finder Icon on my Mac. I had to download an application call candycon. After that I scaled my personal logo(my peacock) as large as I could, I save my composition as a PDF document and then I replaced my regular Finder Icon with my own personal Icon perfect for a little bit of me added to my computer’s desktop. I also though that many other Mac owner’s could use this icon on there computer and even save it as an icon on their iphone. Other uses besides my own personal use this peacock icon could be used my webpage designers as their small thumbnail icon that pops up my the address bar on their website’s homepage(ie. the google “G”). As well as the icon that shows up as a quicklink that is added to the toolbars of webpage’s and homepages. Which in my perfect world I could have my icon iphone application...maybe that had easy styling tips for women, like an easy access webpage that give women weekly tips for must-haves in your closets, easy packing tips for cordinating outfits for a vaction with just a few pieces, new style trends that actually flatter “Real” women’s bodies and trends that women of all ages could wear and a quick guide to why, how, and to where.....(this would be a realistic use for me to use this personal logo/icon....maybe this icon will inspire me to start this “dream” project! )
